The Godllywood School held its third graduation ceremony on 24th June 2017. The class of 2017, a total of 14 girls aged between 11 and 13, was given the chance to celebrate in style, reliving the highlights of all they had learnt during their eight-week course. The venue was perfect for a cold winter’s day, providing parents with a cosy setting for the ceremony.
Guests and graduates were welcomed into the beautifully decorated school and ushered into the Dolly’s room where teachers presented the programme. After the first prayer, the girls were congratulated on their outstanding commitment and dedication. The graduation this time around was aimed at not only celebrating the young ladies’ work, but also letting the parents find out what they had learnt during the programme.
Parents watched some of the activities, captured during the lessons, and also heard from the teachers how well they did. Each girl was presented with a certificate and specially hand-made book mark to be used for special scriptures.
Parents were reminded of the important role they played in instilling some of the virtues that have been lost over time, such as the enjoyment of preparing a home cooked meal, spending time with family, learning how to organise your space and doing all these activities with pleasure. They were also encouraged to continue helping to teach their daughters, using references from the bible
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
A prayer was said for the guests, teachers who guided the journey with the girls and all the young graduates. Everyone then went to the dining area where they enjoyed a customised menu, made up of all the dishes the girls learnt to make in their weekly classes.
“My experience at the Godllywood School was wonderful as I learnt many things that I didn’t know and I have started applying them at home .The Godllywood school was a lovely and fun place to be to learn to be a better and greater woman of God. When I was at the school I felt like I was in another world. I enjoyed meeting other kids from other branches and I made friends every Saturday. When the class was over, I always felt like I could stay there forever.” Retumetse Nare
“The Godllywood School was a great experience for me and my daughter. I am very happy because she has learnt a lot of things that she enjoys such as cooking, how to dress, etiquette, how to manage a budget and many other things which she has already started applying at home. I am grateful to God for this wonderful work of the Godllywood School which has planted a seed in my daughter. It will stay and bear fruits that other girls can see through her at school, at church and at home. The Godllywood School is a lovely place where many girls were learning how to be a great woman of God!” Mom — Nosipho Teku
“Ever since my daughter went to the Godllywood School, I can see that she has learned the basic things. She can now do house chores, such as cooking rice, making salads and doing ironing. She even knows how to fold a shirt neatly. Now I’m no longer doing ironing for her. She can do it herself and she is doing a very good job. I am impressed and proud of her. She has become a responsible person. When it comes to her wardrobe, wow, it’s now very neat and clean. She takes good care of herself. She always makes up her own bed every morning and prepares a lunch box herself. Before, she used to demand money when she went to school, I’m impressed she also learned how to dress as child of God. Most importantly her behaviour has changed. I’d like to THANK all the Godllywood School teachers for playing a good role in my daughter’s life, and also to THANK YOU for giving us this opportunity.” Gloria — Thando’s mom
