Setting captives free in Angola

The group of Deborahs in Angola carried out social work at the women’s prison. They were received with great affection by the employees, management and especially all the inmates who appreciated a word of faith and the love that each group member offered.  The Deborahs are thankful for this welcome, remembering that in the beginning it was not always so.  They believed that one day it would change and how it has changed!

Gift packs were prepared with great care containing fruit to give to every detainee. Although seemingly a simple gift, these were very special. The eyes of many were filled with tears. Reacting as children, many of the women had not tasted fruit for years.

The women were really excited to leave their cells and come to the meeting. Even though they are there awaiting trial, their joy of having this oportuninity was obvious..

The Pastor that is responsivble for the Prison Ministry led the meeting and he taught a lesson of humility and keeping the faith. He warned that many have within them a deep hatred, bitterness, resentment and anxiety about being set free. If they had the same commitment to removing from themselves all the things that saddened God, then they would truly be different.

The Deborahs’ work is gradual, gaining trust to enable them to help others in the process of life transformation. A simple hug, handshake, affection or being attentive, especially to listening to the outpouring from each detainee makes all the difference. Their work goes far beyond a simple visit. They need to pay psychological attention to cases when necessary and take the opportunity to pray for each request brought to them.

In all, they found their work most productive when the inmates shared their experiences. Many have said they were no longer the same people they were before receiving this guidance and attending prayer meetings. They have been able to break free from the past.

The group Deborahs will continue in this mission to set captives free in spirit.

May the Lord our God keep you and guide in his work at all times.Truly you are leading by example going there to talk to those people who have lost hope in life and in being free from the guilt and accusations of the devil that they don’t belong to the outside world anymore. But he has lost because others had alread seen the difference and they are giving their testimonies already. This will prove to others that somethings only need God for them to be able to overcome and defeat the devil with his plans to distroy them.Thank you very much for sharing be blessed.

Matthew 25: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’. # well done ladies

The work that the UCKG does across the globe is very powerful and I know that there are countless testimonies of the good that has come from these works.

May God continue to inspire and use this church to reach out to those who are indeed captive in one way or another.
